Protecting Medicaid on Its 46th Anniversary

On Medicaid/Medicare’s 46th Anniversary, a group of 23 Penn Action volunteers delivered nearly over 20 more requests to Rep. Fitzpatrick to hold a series of no fewer than 4 town halls across the district in August dedicated to the implications of his vote to defund Medicaid 33% and privatize Medicare. This visit followed a June 30 visit when the request was originally made in writing and a July 28 visit when 10 volunteers dropped off nearly 50 requests for the series of town halls.

Cong. Fitzpatrick’s 4/15 vote in support of the Ryan plan would defund Medicaid 33% and privatize Medicare. These radical policy changes would impact residents of the 8th CD dramatically. A recent Families USA report estimates that the 33% cut to Medicaid would cost PA over 80,000 jobs. Report here: http://familiesusa2.org/assets/pdfs/Medicaid-Cuts-Hurt-State-Economies.pdf
